Shortage Areas
Under contract with the New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH), CHWS works with health care facilities, communities, and providers to develop federally designated shortage area applications for Health Professional Shortage Areas (HPSAs) and Medically Underserved Areas and Populations (MUAs/Ps). CHWS also provides technical assistance on the designation process, current designation rules, service obligated programs, and on other questions related to shortage designations.
